Mechanical testing is accomplished by forcing a part or material sample to fail by the application of various types of mechanical loads. Mechanical tests are generally classified as static or dynamic testing based on the relative rates of loading.

Formability tests evaluate a material’s ability to be shaped into semi-finished and finished products by manufacturing techniques like rolling, forging, extrusion, deep drawing, etc.
