Erosion resistance testing assess the ability of materials surfaces, coated or un coated to mechanical abrasion with or without simultaneous corrosion. Typical examples are buildings and structures like wind turbine towers, solar panels, etc., standing in windy areas like desert areas and arctic regions, where windblown sand particles can scratch and abrade the surfaces of materials leading to structural and power generation capacity reduction. Another area is in transport of slurry where solid particles in a liquid can abrade the surfaces over which slurry is transported leading to increased maintenance.
Capability – At TTL, we have capability to assess erosion by falling sand testing, tabor abrasion testing, scratch testing apparatus, etc. We run tests for composite panel manufactures and coatings manufacturers.
Relevant standards:
Touchstone is committed to providing its customers with quality, reliable test results. That is why we have undertaken the rigorous steps needed to meet and secure the most stringent of test lab accreditations including ISO/IEC 17025, NADCAP 7101 (Materials Test Lab) and NADCAP 7122-I (Non-Metallics Materials Testing).
