Prototyping

Prototyping Technologies allow significant testing advances.Prototyping is basically fabricating a part or an assembly of parts using one or several fabrication techniques to evaluate design, materials selection, etc. Traditional prototype process involves sand casting, machining, injection molding, etc. For design evaluation, model materials like wax, wood, low melting metals, plastics, etc., are used. New technologies involve additive manufacturing, 3D printing, and their derivative processes. At Touchstone Testing Lab we have capability to cast shapes in low melting metals like aluminum alloys, wood’s metals, etc., for design evaluation. We also have machining capabilities to shape a block of metal or wood for prototyping. In addition, we have limited 3D printing capacities to fabricate models from ABS, Nylons, PLC, etc., directly from a CAD file.

Touchstone is committed to providing its customers with quality, reliable test results. That is why we have undertaken the rigorous steps needed to meet and secure the most stringent of test lab accreditations including ISO/IEC 17025, NADCAP 7101 (Materials Test Lab) and NADCAP 7122-I (Non-Metallics Materials Testing).
