June 1, 2016 – Touchstone Research Laboratory (trl.com) has spun out its testing business as a separate company – Touchstone Testing Laboratory. This new company is a joint venture between Touchstone Research Laboratory and Standard Laboratories (standardlabs.com) of South Charleston, West Virginia. This new venture leverages the synergies between Touchstone’s world class expertise in aerospace, automotive, and advanced materials testing with Standard Laboratories’ management expertise in building an international multiple lab testing organization.
As the ink dried on the joint venture deal, TTL ordered new state-of-the-art machining and laboratory equipment and walls will soon be torn out for a new expansion.
Touchstone’s president/CEO explains, “I am excited with the new partnership. I have followed Standard Laboratories’ growth for many years and have respected them for almost as long as I’ve been in business.”
According to Todd Stallard, Standard’s Chairman, “This is a strategic move for us to expand into the metals and advanced materials testing marketplace and align ourselves with one of the best testing laboratories in the world.”
Touchstone Testing Laboratory characterizes next generation materials including aluminum alloys, ceramic matrix composites, fiber reinforced plastics, super alloys, rhenium, niobium, steel, plastics foams and many other materials. It also offers failure analysis and general industrial problem solving.
Touchstone Testing Laboratory will continue to support the research activities of Touchstone Research Laboratory.
TTL is the largest metallurgical and materials testing facility in West Virginia.
